“Wood is the material of the future.” Keeping this in mind, architect Oihane Ruiz and landscaper Ane Barrutia explore the life cycle of wood in their native Basque Country, from forest to industry. They are searching for answers to an urgent question: what kind of forest will we leave for future generations? Confronted with a crisis-stricken model, they consult experts, workers, researchers and activists, fostering a dialogue on the connections between our origins, our collective memory and the necessity of envisioning alternative approaches to inhabiting the landscape.
